I showed up to the Swagger On the Mic artist showcase
"curling this hair and crossing this bridge" late, but I'm hoping to make the 10.22 show in time ;) Last time, I was just in time for the freestyle cypher which, appropriately, starts of the night. It took a round or two before we
got something that wasn't written from a dude named Pharaoh - luckily for him because his music didn't play when he was supposed to go up. Fun Fact: Written freestyles will always be my pet peeve, forreal. I suppose this isn't a stab at anyone unless someone feels it. I'm not yet amazing at the freestlying thing, so it's always impressive to see anyone who is. The
most brilliant part about showcases like this is that the public gets to
see what the underground is cooking, but as an artist you also get to
meet talent striving for the same as you. The most difficult part of
participating in and attending showcases is that everyone
is an artist. You are undoubtedly in the midst of your competition, and
your time on the mic is the only #fact up for discussion. The most beneficial things I gained from attending this open mic were the feedback... and the opportunity to analyze the field and gauge which steps I need to take next.

I dropped by Da Enterprize yesterday to cool out with the homies, Devyne & Stat. Got to listen to some of their new tracks as should you. While I bothered Stat about his life of creating music, Devyne showed me the videos he's worked on for some of his partnerships. His videography is cool & so is the music selection. I was suprised I was actually enjoying it (#NoShade, #IDontOwnATV). I was actually looking for his brother's wrestling shots but... this was dope as f*ck as well.

ELLA Performs, "Mic On Fire" - 1.12.13
I performed this passed Saturday at the Paul Robeson Theatre. Getting comfortable on stage, slowly but surely. As usual, forgive the curses and pardon my mistakes. I tried to keep it going tho. & Apparently, the best part of my set is my intro... I like performing in person. I like when people like me so... to really feel me, you might have to catch a show. Forreal, tho.

Messed up a bit on this one but... I like how it ended.

I just really like her & the song makes me happy... so I wanted to sing it. That's really the whole explanation. *shrugs* lol

From a Woman's P.O.V: HollyWood - 24:7 (REVIEW)

Goon & a gentlemen/ G & a gangsta, HollyWood's compact mix-tape is concise, poignant & real. & When I say "real" I don't necessarily mean thug shit, although HollyWood would like you to know that @EastBrookFamily is just a group of dudes he grew up with -- who might also be known as "gutter muthaf*ckas" within the appropriate context.
At the end of the day, HollyWood is great. Period. Hymen. My rendezvous with the meticulously crafted 24:7 has been gross. Addicting. Not to mention, everyone should & do love his flava. [He's] coo-ler than re-friger-ators. Still, no matter the lighthearted punchlines in the middle of it all (which some might label his "swag" --but swag is a constant. We'll have to see, over time, if H's verses are "in line" with his character,) there remains an undeniable seriousness at the beginning and end of every line he spits. HollyWood won't let you can't escape him. The real. It's practically in the man's personal mission statement. Actually... more like literally: "Every hour an ear is exposed to garbage music. Many are affected. Too many. The pain these ears suffer is unimaginable. Yet, their strength is so strong. EBF is a proud sponsor of real rap." -EBF.
Just street life & instrumentals, he's said. Just being real HollyWood.
Before we even begin, in short, my opinion is made: Long live HollyWood, yo.
