Eve is back & that's the part I can't fully get passed. The rapper/actress released her 4th studio album after an 11-year hiatus from recording music. Having been focusing on acting and her rumored beau, Maximillion Cooper, London's newest immigrant is back in hip-hop riding the "bow-down"wave.

Bobby Stone and Friends Concert (Brooklyn, NY)
On May 18th, Bobby Stone held his 3rd indie/unsigned artist concert in Brooklyn, NY - and it was dope. The New Old School is the title of Stone's latest music project - the concert being the official release party -as well as the guide for his craft and crowd: An old school feel, with The New School appeal. Not only was I excited to participate, but I am both humbled and honored to have been chosen by a crowd with such a specific (and dope) "genre" of sorts.
Frédéric Chopin (1810-1849) - Pianist + Composer
I can't stop listening to this!! At 7 years old, Frédéric Chopin (Sho-pon) had composed his first two Polonaises (Polish dancing music). As I browsed the $1 sale walls of Book Off, I had recognized Chopin's name, but had no real idea of the incredible genius he was. A child piano Prodigy, Chopin's works were highly influenced mostly by the legendary composers Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The Polish musician lived most of his life in France. Due to illness, he passed at the age of 39 years old, his work being the only children he left behind. In his will, he asked his heart be removed from his body. His heart is immured in a pillar at the Holy Cross Church in Warsaw, Poland with an inscription that reads, "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also" (Matthew 6:21) --A true testament to the musicians' artistry and personality.

My
favorite thing about H himself
is that he's just a normal, very well-dressed n*gga (no offense) who happens to
be glorious on tracks. "I expected him to be taller," a friend
said. H
stands 6'3, 150lbs, which means he towers over my 5'2, but maybe his rhymes are
just that colossal. Born to Rosalyn and Michael Williams on February 26th, in
the year of royalty (1988, is where it's at), 25-year-old, Michael
"Hollywood" Williams is an East New York, Brooklyn native;
a G from The Field across the boulevard. We can call him "H" and he's been charged with one mission: Bring real rap back.
Beyoncé; Vogue Magazine's March 2013 Issue
They called her "Queen B," but I'm not sure they understood why. She's s f*ckin superhero. Beyoncé is a living example of what hard work, dedication and patience can bring you. Not only did she work hard on her career, but her relationship as well, I can imagine. The writer of vogues article, Jason Gay (I can't quite find him on the internet, curiously) writes that getting an interview with Beyoncé is spectacular in it's difficulty. She's a busy woman and he's a busy person as well. "She's on family vacation in the Caribbean; curiously I'm not invited," he writes. You're not family, Jason.
I admire Beyoncé most for being a normal person. She has spectacular talent, no doubt, but she doesn't let that affect how she interacts with the world. "Her boots are off, arranged neatly on the floor, still in her bkacj Norma Kamali bodysuit and Helmut Land pants, she asks for a robe. A white robe is presented, and Beyoncé cutely wraps it like a blanket over her shoulders. She resembles a teenager getting ready to curl up and watch a double features. She is 31 years old and about to embark upon perhaps the craziest stretch of her career," Gay continues. He describes everything to you but, curiously, never makes mention of her humanity. Sometimes, the most obvious, minute things are the easiest to look over, yet the most important in the world.
"Life is so much more than... It's not defined by any of this," Gay quotes the Queen explaining that she means the money, the fame, the bullsh*t. What I found most curious about the entire article was the lack of mention of God... Beyoncé always talks about God and, if you watched he documentary, you can see how He talks back to her. It's funny how you've got to be afraid not to offend people, so you hide what's most important to you. I wonder if this was the writer's decision to Bey's. I love Beyoncé most for her love of God. As a woman coming into my own, I sometimes find it difficult to maintain with the pressure of being a good person; a good friend, daughter, role model, artist, writer.... woman. I also find it most difficult to chase my dreams and succeed financially while avoiding putting my body in display with the grotesque options available to me, a woman of color with too much curve for a look book. More so, I find it stressing trying to find a way to be "sexy" while still having respect for myself... how do I attract a man.
Beyoncé gives me hope and strengthens my faith. She's shown me that I need to love everything I do. I need to take care to listen to my heart and put those dots together. I need to have faith. I need to pray. I need to be a strong individual but understand when others can help me --noting when I can do it just as well by myself. Beyoncé is the Queen because she is a leader. We, women who look like me, have never seen it done before. Rarely do the women around us marry before having a child. Rarely can they stay out the public eye without airing their husbands to the media/friends/part-time haters. Beyoncé teaches me a lot. The long and short of it, she is Queen because not only does she call deserve your love, but she earns your respect.
You's a bad b*tch, Bey.

Kicks, Chicks & More Dope Sh*t: The Dunk Exchange, Sponsored by #1800Tequila and #DaEnterprize
I dropped by Da Enterprize yesterday to cool out with the homies, Devyne & Stat. Got to listen to some of their new tracks as should you. While I bothered Stat about his life of creating music, Devyne showed me the videos he's worked on for some of his partnerships. His videography is cool & so is the music selection. I was suprised I was actually enjoying it (#NoShade, #IDontOwnATV). I was actually looking for his brother's wrestling shots but... this was dope as f*ck as well.

Groove Theory - Tell Me (1995)
This. Is. My. Jam.
Groove Theory is actually the name of this duo/group. My whole life, I thought it was just the girl, smh. The pair, Amel Larriuex and Bryce Wilson, formed in 1993 through mutual friends. Larriuex had been singing and song writing on her own while working as a receptionist. Wilson was producing music and the two matched beautifully, so they began to work together.
Groove Theory signed to Epic Records in 1995 and released their self titled album. "Tell Me" reached #5 on the Billboard 100 and #3 in the Hip-Hop category. Meanwhile, I begged my aunt to make my hair curly like Amel's for my 3rd grade class pictures. I used to steal the CD from my brother and just look at her. I thought she was beautiful.
Amel left Groove Theory in 1999 to pursue a solo career. She moved on to film and to produce songs for the likes of Beyoncé. She was replaced in Groove Theory by Makeda Davis. With Makeda on board, the group recorded an album, The Answer, in 2001. Unsatisfied with the product, Wilson asked to be released from his contract and The Answer was never released.
In 2010, Amel & Bryce were said to have been reunited to work on another album. I hadn't/haven't heard much, but "Tell Me" is still one of my favorite songs. Additionally, after watching the video below, I'm just unsure of Amel. I'm not sure if she looked scared or uncomfortable, but perhaps the reason they didn't see success as they would have liked is the lack of personality. I'm not a big mover on stage either but... I wish she would have looked like she was enjoying herself & loving the words. Or perhaps that's just something that happens when you're singing words that aren't your own. Music scares me, yo. S/O to how far we have come.
Enjoy the video <3

DAY1
I'm always on time, especially when I'm late. I showed up in Philly about 10am on a fabulous Saturday. Although I can be counted on to miss the bus I'm supposed to be on, Greyhound was delayed its damned self and brought me into the city perfectly late, as usual. I got off in downtown to wait on my love to get me as I got stares for my NY Mets gear. #ThatsMyTeam I wore NY gear becasue... NY is America. As I've been reading Mao Zedong's On Protracted War, he makes an interesting observation of the US versus China. The power in our country isn't distributed evenly at all. If you take out one major city, you've wiped out the entire country, for the most part. That's why 9/11 had such an impact on us. The reason I wanted to be with Jay-Z (instead of anywhere else in the world) was because, I think he understands that. The world is a lot smaller than most of us think. & it's a shame a group of us -- born and raised here-- feel so foreign on our own land. Fuck that. I was #MadeInAmerica. *Cracks open a Bud*
Oh, and before we continue... keep in mind my life is about me. I experience them exactly as I do. I'm no groupie. As for fame, there are mostly pics of HOV, but the rest are my photos.
Enjoy.
